its probably a 1.5 thing, is that the joomla version you use?

are you sure that you are using the smo shoutbox and not the risp one?

I'm using this one:

This one is adopted from ajax shoutbox by Risp. I've tested it with the rsip plugin (mambot) but it doesn't work, now i use the smo shoutbox Modul without bbcode

then thats the problem

i dont think either of the mambots were written for that shoutbox

i never even heard of it
